Wow. I'm sorry I've been away for so long, but I've had good reason. Being a dad is indescribably rewarding, but it certainly does eat up one's spare time! But now Blogging 'Bout Baby is back in full force. As you may have known or guessed already, now there IS a baby, a gorgeous little girl. Let me introduce you to Heather Carolyn Young.
Heather entered the world at 6:38 PM on March 29, 2009. She was a hefty 8 pounds, 3 ounces. That's 3.6 kg for those who like metric. She was also 21 inches (0.5 metres) long. Here she is just a short time afterwards:

She looks a bit like a hot dog (she gets that from her mom), but what a freaking cutie eh? You know, there aren't many things that make me cry. I'm certainly not the type to shed tears over happy things. It always seemed silly to me. I didn't even cry at my wedding. But I'll tell you, I feel like bursting into tears every time I look my little girl. She's going to destroy my rep!
The birth went smoothly, no complications, and once they finally managed to get the epidural in her there was little pain for Allison. They stuck a needle in her spine three times before they got it right. The labour was relatively short, 14 hours in total with only 38 minutes of pushing. I spend more time than that on the can sometimes. Nevertheless ladies, I bow to your strength. I could not do what you have to do.
As a matter of fact, I was asleep through much of the process. It was my birthday the night before and between the booze and Molly forcing me talk to her for hours, I only got a half hour of sleep that night. So I napped in the delivery room. But I woke up for the important parts!
I have much more to tell you about Heather since her birth, and lots of pictures, but I figured I would get at least something up here for now. Until next time, enjoy this photo of my future nobel prize winner.

I did not force you to talk to me! Stop spreading lies!
